My art education is a basic art education from the Danforth Technical School in Toronto Ontario, Canada. Further education came in the form of self investigation after not being involved in art for five years after Danforth. I was re-inspired by the abstract expressionist of the New York School and the Canadian versions of that school such as the Painters Eleven which sparked my interest in art again. Primarily my art was for myself never really intending to pursue it as a career and only dreaming of being an artist. With the push from people to show my work later I entered into local art shows and galleries.
Influenced by the abstract expressionists my work was primarily spontaneous and with various techniques until I tried my hand at the splatter technique inspired by Jackson Pollock without trying to emulate the style. What resulted was a more landscaped abstract painting of splattered color. Because of lack of space to work in and not being certain this was the direction I should take I explored other painting techniques and ideas until a fellow artist suggested I go back to the splattered landscape. The work has the appearance of pointillism but with more spontaneity and the splatter is not always predictable.
My inspiration primarily comes from the Creator who has put the creative instincts within me.
