Linda graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Fine Art Studio. At that time her main area of focus was printmaking. Over the years her interest and teaching fine art at the
secondary school level has led her to a point of now working in a three dimensional format, enjoying
the earthy sensual feeling of clay as well as the textures and intricacies of fabrics used in the one of a
kind Santa sculptures.
Influenced by a very practical nature she strives to create pieces in clay that are strong in form
and function as well as comfortable for use. New glaze colours continue to emerge as inspiration from
the surrounding natural woodland setting of her studio near Sunderland, Ontario offers possibilities for
a palette reflective of all seasons at any time of day. Functional and decorative wheel-thrown porcelain
provides a touch of wonder and fanciful introspection to help celebrate the rituals and ceremonies of
daily life from morning coffee to festive holiday feasts.
Recently, needing a diversion and an outlet to stretch her creativity, she has drawn upon the
fantasy and whimsy of dreams which has led her to develop a series of sculptures of Santas
incorporating vintage as well as new fabrics.
Involvement in Toronto Potter's Guild and Pine Tree Potter's Guild enables Linda to be exposed
to other potters and also share her expertise in the field through teaching classes and selling her work.
Her work exhibits a unity with the elements to portray grace, strength, and delicacy and is
evocative of the human figure with slight differences in a set that make each piece as individual as
each and every one of us.
