Anne began her painting career depicting realistic work in watercolour, a medium she loves. However, Anne always had a curiosity and interest in abstract painting that she saw in galleries. Her first attempts at abstraction were rather mundane as she quickly found out that abstract paintings are not as easy as they appear. Over the years Anne has developed her own interpretation of the world around her and found her mark in abstraction.
The central idea of Anne's non-objective paintings is to hold and maintain the qualities of light on the canvas with a goal for each of the works to keep the light shining under and through the darker colours giving an ethereal quality. The medium used is acrylic.
Anne Garrett is a signature member of the Society of Canadian Artists and her works can be viewed on the SCA website.
