I was born in Holland and came to Canada in 1954 with my parents. We joined my grandparents, uncles and aunts and we lived in Newtonville, Ontario.
I attended Newtonville Public School and Clarke High School and graduated in 1971. I joined the 5 year art and sciences course in high school in order to get some art instruction, but alas there was no art department so I held off on any instruction at that time.
I loved to paint at an early age and in fact I still have an oil painting (still life) I painted when I was around 12 years of age. My parents saw how interested I was in painting and bought me my first oil paint set.
I attended Durham College and joined the life drawing instruction class, but again, life got in the way and and I got a job. Marriage soon followed and children.
I discovered the "Gallery on the Lake" in Buckhorn and the instruction there, together with lots of support and a lot of bottled up inspiration over the years I started to paint in 1997 in a big way and now I feel that now is the time for me to paint!
