Frances Clancy
Painter

Frances worked as a freelance illustrator for twenty-seven years. With experience drawing just about everything, including people, animals, cars, boats, food and drink. Her style ranges from -realistic to abstract and also a contemporary, designed and simplified look, such as the couple displayed in the packaging section of the web site: www.francesclancy.com

One of her early assignments was to draw all the leaders of the Economic Summit that took place in Toronto in 1988. The client was Royal Trust. The pen and ink portraits were all finished in a week and were enlarged and displayed in Summit Square. When painting a portrait, she always gets a likeness and, usually, a little bit more.

Her children's book and text book illustrations have provided years of experience, capturing the movement and the expressions of the human face and form.

A fun job was a series of paintings with an Italian theme for Compaq's 1998 Red Carpet Trip campaign. Many of these images can be seen on the web page under cuisine. That project led to many related works. Her knowledge is eclectic and she enjoys the research to ensure every piece produced is accurate.

Frances designed and painted a mural for a downtown law firm (Gaertner & Tobin) in 2004. One of the rough paintings for that job led to creating impressionistic landscapes, leading to her first solo show in October, 2005. Six works were sold as a result Two were portraits, Next, came a mural of a roller coaster which can be viewed on the web page in the gallery under Interior Design Features.

Impressionistic landscapes were shown in 2009 and 2010 in a public gallery, the Art Gallery of Northumberland, in their annual juried show. Her work is shown in Ganaraska Art in Port Hope, Stockdale Mills, Wayne Buckingham Fine- Art in Uxbridge, Antony's Gallery in Whitby and A Touch of Art in Newcastle,

Having a passion for painting in the abstract form, she is inspired by the energy of movement and expression and enjoys communicating through acrylic on canvas using mixed media in some pieces.
